Nevada has the fifth-lowest domestic air fares in the nation, finds an analysis by Airlines Reporting Corp. Domestic round-trips from the state averaged $179 in the last 12 months. That's up from an average of $155 a year earlier.

Where, a publishing firm based in Augusta, Ga., has acquired Reno-Tahoe Visitor, an in-room guide book, from Reno's Visitor Publications Inc. Visitor Publications Inc. has been operated by Reno's Glenn and Rose families since 1974. Terms weren't disclosed.

Ranger loss

Ranger Gold Corp., an exploration company headquartered in Reno, lost $292,724 in the year ended March 31. A year earlier, the company posted a loss of $347,063. The company is working prospects in Mineral and Nye counties.

Mine developers make push to use renewable energy

American Vanadium’s plan to add small-scale solar and wind facilities to the mine site its developing just south of Eureka provides the perfect opportunity for the company to showcase a potential use of the vanadium mined at the site, says president Bill Radvak. American Vanadium of Vancouver recently engaged Hanlon Engineering and Architecture of Tucson to evaluate the installation of small-scale renewable facilities that could generate about three megawatts of power.

Bently aims to spur sales through hands-on service center

Big Energy executives from around the world will forgo the customary PowerPoint presentations and sales pitches the next time they visit Bently Nevada’s headquarters in Minden. Bently, a division of GE Energy’s Measurement and Control business, unveiled an interactive customer application center, which functions as an interactive sales floor providing hands-on displays of its products that are designed to detect harmful vibrations in engines and moving parts used in power generation.

Aerospace manufacturer relocates to Gardnerville

The aerospace manufacturing cluster in greater Carson City area got another player. Aerospace and Commercial Precision Machining, formerly located in Palmdale, Calif., last week completed a long-anticipated move to Gardnerville. AnC Precision joins a diverse base of aerospace manufacturing companies, such as Click-Bond, Phoenix Aerospace and Chromalloy, that specialize in making parts and equipment for the aerospace industry.

3G Productions eyes western expansion

With a half dozen episodes of a locally based advertorial television program under its belt, a Reno-based production company is looking to expand into Las Vegas, Los Angeles and other markets. The company, 3G’s Productions LLC, takes a different tack from other video production companies that sell advertisers time in which they are interviewed by a host for a program that is broadcast locally.
