Obituary: Robert Lawrence Peters

A memorial service for Robert Lawrence Peters, 71, a Carson City resident for the past 11 years, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Peters died Aug. 2, 2001, at his home. He was born June 6, 1930, in Oklahoma to Bert L. "Chief White Eagle" and Genevieve "New Rider" Peters.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Monterey, Calif.

Mr. Peters was an engineer for the aerospace industry. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Korean War Veterans Association and the Mixed Indian Bowling League in Carson City. He enjoyed bowling and had worked as a radio announcer for West Coast and Nevada radio stations since 1965.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Among his survivors were his loving companion Gaylene Cracraft of Carson City; sons David Bert of Olympia, Wash., Martin Douglas of Juneau, Alaska, and Bradley Scott of Olympia; daughters Pamela Rae Peters of Seattle, Wash., and Mary Alice Padilla of Rochester, Wash.; sister Ida Carolyn Sumpter of Bremerton, Wash., and five grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Bremerton.

Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
