Greater Nevada selects replacement for retiring president

A long-time Greater Nevada Credit Union executive has been named to replace president and chief executive officer Marsha Burgess, who is retiring at the end of 2000 following 25 years of service to the credit union.

Wallace G. Murray will begin a transition into the position under the guidance of Burgess, credit union officials announced.

Murray, a certified public accountant since 1985, has served GNCU in a number of capacities, most recently as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

"Wally is very conversant with our mission, purpose and organization," said Bill Arensdorf, GNCU's chairman of the board. "He is extremely knowledgeable about our member services and has been involved in the day-to-day operations of the credit union for many years."

In nearly 12 years with GNCU, he has also served as chairman of the Western Chapter of the Nevada Credit Union League and volunteered on a variety of state and local councils, including a 1999 appointment by Gov. Kenny Guinn to the Nevada Commission on Sports.

Headquartered in Carson City, GNCU is Northern Nevada's largest credit union with 10 branches and 160 employees serving more than 43,000 members.
