The Ormsby House will return as the venue for Nevada Day fireworks on Saturday night.
Sponsored by Cubix, the Nevada Appeal, Dick Campagini's Capital Ford Mercury, Carson City Toyota-Mazda, and the radio station 92.9 Hawk, the fireworks will be launched after 7:30 p.m.
"People should be ready by 7:30 p.m.," Nevada Day Committee staff member Gale Thomssen said. "The weather will be clear as long as we all think positive. Cold but beautiful."
The fireworks will be the culmination of Nevada Day celebrations on Saturday.
"They will be spectacular," Thomssen said. "There will be just a sliver of a moon."
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday's events will fall between two systems rolling through Western Nevada.
The system affecting today's weather should clear out by Friday with a second stronger system arriving late Saturday, according to forecaster Tom Tom Cylke.
"I can guarantee you it's going to be windy," Cylke said.
However, any precipitation should be on the other side of the Sierra all through Saturday.
"It's possible there may be some slopover by Saturday afternoon," he said.
"It's hard to say; it depends on the timing for the fronts."
Temperatures will get up to the mid-50s for parade day, but will drop on Sunday.
"It will be much colder on Sunday with scattered rain and snow showers," he said.
