WASHINGTON - Nevada will get $29.7 million to fund programs for people with disabilities.
Sens. Harry Reid and Richard Bryan, both D-Nev., said $27 million will provide public education to all children with disabilities - including programs to get disabled children ready to attend public school.
The money is designed to provide services from preschool therapy to sign language interpreters, mobility instructors and extended school years where needed.
The remaining $2.7 million will provide early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities.
"This guarantee of access to education will allow disabled children the same opportunities to learn and participate in activities that are provided to all children," said Reid.
"The IDEA program helps level the playing field for children who live with disabilities by providing them with greater access to educational services and integrating them into the regular public school curriculum," said Bryan.
