The Douglas County Public Library will celebrate Children's Book Week with a Book-A-Brations on Monday, weekly storytime on Wednesday, bedtime stories on Nov. 17 and Amelia Bedelia and Friends on Nov. 20.
Carol Rapacz will host booktalks at the library at 6:30 p.m. Monday. She will read from the Harry Potter books and introduce children and their parents to some great new books.
Children who come to the regular storytime at 10 a.m. on Nov. 17 may bring their favorite story from home to share. Weekly storytime is at Rancho Grande Mexican Dining restaurant.
Bedtime Stories will feature Thanksgiving stories and tales from Native American folklore. Bedtime Stories will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the CVIC Hall. Children may come dressed in their pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal and story.
Amelia Bedelia and Friends will perform at 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Amelia Bedelia is a literally-minded book character by Peggy and Norman Parish. Amelia will share the multi-cultural collection of books collected by Margo Thorne on her literature tours of the world. Books in different languages will be presented. Local children's author Alora Knight will read her new story "Tola and Tara the Tahoe Bears." Works by Judy Hatch and Jim Darrough will also be featured.
A guessing game will be held at the library from Monday through Nov. 20 for all children. Come to the library and guess how many bookworms are in the jar. The closest guess wins the jar.
