The 17th annual Cinco de Mayo Chili Cookoff will begin at noon Saturday May 6 at the Bucket of Blood parking lot, C Street, Virginia City.
Tasting kits will be available to the public for $2 and will go on sale shortly before 3 p.m.
There will be "Shoot & Holler," Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce contests. Awards will also go to the best booth, peoples' choice, I.C.S. red, I.C.S. green and salsa.
This is an International Chili Society (ICS) sanctioned event and is sponsored by the Virginia City Chamber of Commerce. ICS and novice cooks are invited to participate.
