Gibbons files for second term

Reno Republican Dawn Gibbons filed Tuesday for her second full term in the Nevada Assembly.

She represents District 25 in southwest Reno.

Gibbons said she will continue to focus on providing children with a quality education and providing access to affordable healthcare, reforming the prison system and advocating victim rights.

She said the challenges facing the 2001 Legislature include reapportionment and state budget issues as well as healthcare and government accountability.

The 1999 session was her first term as an elected Assemblywoman but her second session in the lower house. She first served in 1991 when she was appointed to handle husband Jim Gibbons' legislative duties while he served in the Gulf War. He is now seeking his third term in the House of Representatives.
