Letter: Nevadans should support the Black Rock NCA

I've been following the debate about the Black Rock NCA in the pages of your newspaper for months now. It seems to me that the conservationists have proposed a reasonable NCA plan that still allows grazing, hunting, driving on existing roads, horseback riding, and driving faster than hell on the playa. Opposition to Sen. Richard Bryan's introduced bill seems to have less to do with specifics and more to do with blanket opposition to conservation.

Has anyone else noticed that Senator Bryan's plan addresses specific concerns, while opposition focuses on generalities and innuendo? Nevadans should support the Black Rock NCA with wilderness because it protects the natural and historical values of the area. The place is too special to just bury our heads in the sand.
