River rafting trips offered by UNR

The University of Nevada, Reno's health ecology department will present three-day white water raft trips every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, beginning May 19 and ending in September.

The trips, open to the general pubic, are scheduled for the Truckee River, the American River South Fork and the Carson River.

Trips vary from easy-going, predominantly scenic floats to nonstop white water runs. The university provides all equipment; rafts, wet suits, splash jackets, paddles and river shuttles. Professional guides are trained by the Campus Recreation Program's White Water Guide School.

Participants are advised to pack a lunch and sunscreen.

-Truckee River raft trips: May 19-21, 26-28. Cost $50.

-American River South Fork raft trips: June 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, July 1-2, 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, 28-30, Aug. 4-6, 11-13, 18-20, 25-27. Cost $70.

-Carson River two-day raft trip: May 20-21. Cost $75

Discount prices are available to University of Nevada, Reno students, faculty and staff and to groups.
