Strip named an All American Road

The Las Vegas Strip has been named an All American Road by the federal Highway Administration and Department of Transportation.

"Designating this unique landmark as an All American Road recognizes the special place it holds in the minds of all those who have visited its famous resorts or who has just dreamed about cruising down Las Vegas Boulevard in a convertible surrounded by the glow of neon lights," said Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.

He described the Strip as the "eighth wonder of the world."

The designation also qualifies the Strip for federal highway improvement dollars to promote tourism.
