Two arrested in I-80 drug bust

BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. - Two men and two teen-age runaways from San Jose, Calif., were taken into custody after authorities found four pounds of methamphetamine in the car they were in.

Arturo Cornejo, 18, was driving the car when he was stopped early Monday on Interstate 80 near Battle Mountain for failing to maintain a travel lane, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The patrol said none of the four people in the car had a drivers license. The vehicle was impounded and permission was later granted to search the vehicle, where the drugs were found in the engine compartment.

Cornejo and Armando Valencia, 28, were booked into the Lander County Jail on multiple drug charges.

The runaways, ages 14 and 15, were taken to juvenile detention.
