A graveside service for Barbara Pitta, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 41 years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sierra Mountain Cemetery, 10370 E. Jibboom St., Truckee.
Mrs. Pitta died July 16, 2001, at her residence. She was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Oakland, Calif. to Ann and Ralph Toole.
She attended Castlemont High School and Merritt Business School in Oakland.
She married George Pitta Nov. 11, 1944.
Mrs. Pitta worked for the Army Air Force from 1942-44. She enjoyed reading, hiking and was an avid collector of stamps, books and artifacts.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Kunze in 1985 and granddaughter-in-law Kristen Kunze earlier this year.
Among her survivors are her husband George of Carson City; daughter Leona Pierce; grandchildren Alana Davis, Jeffrey Kunze, Tonya Swope and Jason Clack all of Sparks and three great-grandchildren.
