Cemetary Tour celebrates Carson Valley history

The Carson Valley Historical Society will hold it's sixth annual Cemetery Tour on Saturday Oct. 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Garden Cemetery, Douglas Avenue in Gardnerville.

Throughout the hour there will be presentations of living history pertaining to family history and events in Carson Valley, with a few visiting ghosts and goblins.

As in the past, this is a self-guided tour and guets are to be sure to dress warmly and bring a flashlight.

In addition to the repeat performance of Debbie Byers as her Grandmother Augusta

Hellwinkel, George and Connie Wennhold will tell the history of the Wennhold family.

Andre Aldax will tell about the Aldax family. Dennis Bruns, the Bruns family and Arnold Settelmeyer highlights of the Settelmeyer family. Duke Sanders will tell the story of the murdered man that is buried there.

After the tour 8:15 Maureen Rees will give a lecture on "Ghosts of the Comstock" at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, Highway 395 in Gardnerville, where refreshments will be served. No admission charge but donations appreciated.

There will be no parking in the cemetery during the tour. There is ample parking on Douglas Avenue and adjacent parking lots. Call 775-782-2555.
