One killed, two hospitalized after collision on SR-447

A Chico, Calif. man was killed and two Carson City residents were injured on Sunday in a vehicle collision north of Nixon.

Daniel James Clayton, 43, was driving south on State Route 447 around 7:35 p.m. in a 1996 Ford utility vehicle. He was towing a 25-foot trailer and inexplicably crossed the center line into the path of a 1986 Lincoln sedan.

Clayton was pronounced dead at the scene. Both passengers of the Lincoln were seriously injured.

Tony Allen Jacobson, 29, and Amoreena Victorine, 26, both of Carson City, were flown to Washoe Medical Center in Reno. Both are listed in fair condition.

All three victims were wearing seat belts.

The crash started a small brush fire that was later extinguished.

Investigators do not know if alcohol was a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
