Obituary: Rosalie Viola Stanford

Visitation for Rosalie Viola Stanford, 83, a Gardnerville resident for the past 10 years, will be from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville. A Witness to the Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. Thursday following the visitation with Pastor Dan Steen officiating.

Mrs. Stanford died Sept. 3, 2001 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Victoria, Newfoundland to Henry Collins and Gladys Irene Stevenson Vokey.

She married Arthur Stanford June 28, 1939 in Cambridge, Mass.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Ocean Shores, Wash.

Mrs. Stanford was an administrative secretary for Northrop Corporation in Thousand Oaks, Calif. for 19 years before retiring. She enjoyed crocheting and she was a high speed typist. She was a Protestant.

Among her survivors are her husband Arthur R. of Gardnerville; son and daughter-in-law Henry R. and Donna of Port Orchard, Wash.; daughter and sons-in-law Judy I. and and Tom Nagel of Woodfords, Calif. and Janice E. and Raymond Spindler of Salem, Ore.; brother Wesley Vokey of Hanson, Mass.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville, is in charge of arrangements.
