Obituary: Robert Edward O'Farrell

There will be a memorial Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church for Robert Edward O'Farrell, 81, a Carson City resident for 26 years.

Born Dec. 13, 1919 in Hollister, Calif. to Edward Charles and Loretta Chapman O'Farrell, he served in the U.S. Army, enjoyed hunting and was an avid outdoorsman.

He moved to Carson City in 1975 from the Monterey Bay area. He was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus in Carson City.

He was a former members of the Lions Club and a past chaplain of the VFW. He was very active at St. Teresa and served as head usher for many years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mable Hunter O'Farrell, who died July 5, 1993 and a brother, Charles O'Farrell.

He is survived by daughters Barbara Rennes of Anaheim, Mary Esquer of Sacramento and Beverly Vasquez of San Diego; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St. in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.

Donations may be made in Mr. O'Farrell's honor to the American Red Cross to aid the victims of the New York City terrorist attack.
