Son arrested in death of his mother, her husband in Henderson

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - The son of a Henderson couple who were found bludgeoned and stabbed to death last week has been arrested in Texas, Henderson police said Monday.

Matthew Scott Freen, 29, was arrested Sunday and was being held in San Antonio awaiting extradition to Nevada to face two murder charges in the slayings of 69-year-old Lee Jackson, 69, and Dorothy Jackson, 60.

The two had been dead several weeks before they were found early Friday in their home, Henderson Police Officer Terry Bowler said. An autopsy was conducted Saturday to determine the cause of death.

Freen was Dorothy Jackson's son from a previous relationship, police said. He had been living with the couple since they moved to the home in April 1998.

Bowler said police went to the home about a month ago after neighbors reported the couple had not been seen. An officer knocked, but got no answer and didn't go inside.
