Obituary - Lt. Col. William G. "Bill" Martin

A memorial service for Lt. Col. William G. "Bill" Martin (ret.) of Boise, Idaho, was held in Boise.

Lt. Col. Martin died Sept. 10, 2001, of cancer. He was born May 8, 1936, in Springerville, Ariz. to Luna Mae and Charley Van Martin. He was raised in a very western way in Arizona, California and Nevada. He attended high school in Gabbs where he met his future wife.

He married Vivian Rae Hall Nov. 3, 1955.

He became a full-time member of the Army National Guard and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1989. After his retirement, he worked for Idaho Fish and Game and Idaho Helicopters. He loved the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by infant son, Michael.

Among his survivors are his wife Vivian; sons and daughters-in-law Gregg and Donna of Boise, Rob and Martha of Timnath, Colo., Steve and Kim of Eagle, Idaho; and Don and wife Amy of Juneau, Alaska; nine grandchildren; brothers Bob of Silver Springs and Mike and wife Ruth of Fallon; and numerous other relatives.
