A Carson City woman wanted in connection with a Reno armed robbery was arrested Tuesday for using a false ID to visit someone in the Carson City Jail.
Kit Elaine Russell, 21, who lists a Carson City post office box as an address, is being held in the Carson City jail on a felony charge of using the ID of another for unlawful purpose.
According to police reports, Russell used an ID belonging to another woman to visit an unnamed Carson City inmate.
The detention clerk, familiar with the ID's owner, notified detention staff.
As an officer was going to speak with Russell she ran out of the jail lobby and into the parking lot before being apprehended, the report states.
A records search revealed Russell was wanted on a Reno warrant for a Nov. 30, 2001, robbery.
According to Sgt. Randy Saulnier of the Reno Police Department, clerks at a store called Hemp Field on West First Street, tried to stop Russell from leaving after they witnessed her shoplifting.
When the women refused to move from the doorway, Russell allegedly threatened "move or I'll slice you with my knife," and pulled a large knife from her jacket pocket.
Clerks followed Russell from the store and got the license plate number from the vehicle she was driving, Saulnier said.
She is being held in the Carson City jail on a $3,605 bail.
