Firms win contracts for sound insulation

Advance Installations of Sparks and Alpine Energy of Reno won five contracts from the Airport Authority of Washoe County for a sound- insulation program in Reno's Persimmon/Alder and Huffaker Hills neighborhoods.

"The sound insulation will go a long way in providing noise relief to some of our neighbors south of Reno/Tahoe International Airport who are subjected to high levels of aircraft noise," said Krys T.

Bart, the airport's executive director.

"We are committed to being a good neighbor, and this project helps us achieve that goal." New doors and windows will be installed to decrease noise in the homes.

The airport received a $1.9 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for acoustical insulation in 147 homes.
