Tribal officer struck by vehicle

A Pyramid Lake tribal police officer was struck by a vehicle on Thursday morning as he was issuing a traffic citation on State Route 447, near Wadsworth, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

As Officer Ronald Smith Sr., 44, was explaining the citation to the motorist, a northbound 2002 Ford Motor home being driven by Stuart Henry Goldman, 58, of London, England, passed the location where the officer was standing. The right outside mirror struck him in the upper back and neck, according to the report.

The officer was taken to Washoe Medical Center for treatment and the injuries he sustained were listed as minor.

The driver wasn't cited at the scene of the accident, but investigation into the matter is continuing, the NHP added.
