Obituary for Budd. F. Dressler

Budd F. Dressler, 82, passed away at Washoe Medical Center in Reno on Nov. 29, 2002 after suffering a stroke.

He was born in the Carson Valley on Dec. 28, 1919, to Ernest and Emma Thran Dressler. Mr. Dressler was from a pioneer ranching family. The family ranch was purchased in 1900. He attended local schools and later joined the U.S. Army where he participated in the World war II Pacific Theater from 1944 through 1946. Upon returning to the Carson Valley following the war, he married Ruth Storke in 1950.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville. Baptized in 1920 and confirmed in his faith by 1934, he continued his worship until the time of his stroke.

He was active in Future Farmers of America, was a 4-H member from 1929 through 1939 and a 4-H leader for 25 years. He was a member of the Douglas County Farm Bureau, ASC board member, 20-30 club member, charter Lions Club member and Charter Carson Valley Historical member.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Gardnerville, and son, Kenneth Budd Dressler of Gardnerville, and daughter and son-in-law Annette and Harry Swainston of Carson City.

Visitation will be at Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden today from 4 until 7 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville on Monday, at 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Budd Dressler's name to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1480 Douglas Avenue, Gardnerville, Nevada, 89410. Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is in charge of the arrangements.
