Evergreen Healthcare purchases Mountain View Care Center

Two Carson City elder-care facilities will be managed under one umbrella since Washington-based Evergreen Healthcare finalized its purchase of Mountain View Care Center just after midnight Sunday.

The company now owns two care facilities in Carson and five in Nevada. It owns 60 other facilities in Washington, Oregon, California, Utah and Montana.

Evergreen spokesman and regional operations manager Doug McCoy said he is spending the week orienting Mountain View center staff to the company. The transition should not affect patient care, he said.

"We're hoping that, with the exception of bringing on (new systems), residents shouldn't be expecting any changes at all," McCoy said.

The cost of care at the center should not change, and Evergreen is hoping to retain current staff and management, he said.

"We want to keep it as seamless a transition for residents as possible," McCoy said.

Evergreen had looked at purchasing the building, land, facility and business for a month. The addition of Mountain View Care Center allows the company to have a sister site in Carson to share resources, he said.

"Nevada has been an area of growth opportunity for Evergreen for some time," McCoy said. "Carson City is a growing marketplace."

Evergreen will bring new care systems to Mountain View and will train staff accordingly. The company has specific resident care systems that monitor care and procedures and prevent abuse, he said.
