Lyon County deputies detonate bomb

Lyon County sheriff's investigators are asking the public to help find who is responsible for building a package bomb that was safely detonated Sunday morning in a state park.

Park rangers called the bomb squad to Dayton State Park at about 8:25 a.m. Sunday when a package, about 3 inches by 4 inches by 1 inch, was found in a parking area.

The package was wrapped in silver duct tape and had a small piece of burned fuse extending from one end.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the state police were called to handle the bomb, which was blown up.

Authorities reminded residents to watch out for suspicious-looking packages and not to handle them. If one is found, call 911.

Anyone with information about the bomb found Sunday is asked to call the sheriff's department at 246-6200, 557-5023 or 463-6620.
