The skies around Mount Rose cleared Monday afternoon over Washoe Lake. The holiday weather for Northern Nevada area is expected to be cloudy with a 20 percent chance of snow showers.

Santa Claus and his eight tiny reindeer should have no problems flying into the region tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

"It looks like he'll be able to get in," said Al Cox, weather service specialist.

Cox said a 20 percent chance of snow is expected today in the valley. High temperatures in the upper 30s are predicted with a partly cloudy morning turning cloudy in the afternoon.

"On Christmas Day itself, it should be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of snow showers and a high near 40 degrees," Cox said.

Santa will get out of town fast since the day after Christmas will have a chance of rain or snow with winds up to 22 mph.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command, which provides warning of missile and air attacks and air defense for both Canada and the United States, will begin tracking Santa Claus' progress today.

In addition to radar, NORAD uses SantaCams to take videos of Santa, which can be watched on its Web site -- www.noradsanta.org -- tonight.

On Claus.com's Santa Show, broadcaster Alibaster Snowball reported that even though Santa knows exactly what to get every child in the world, he is stumped when it comes to Mrs. Claus.

"Rumor has it if Mrs. Claus doesn't get a present this year, a certain man in a red suit is going to be sleeping in an igloo," Snowball reported.
