No such thing as "too slow" on ice

With more icy weather approaching, the Nevada Highway Patrol said there's no such thing as driving too slow on slick roads.

"You can't do it," said Trooper Patrick McGill. "If its completely icy out there, you can be traveling at 15 or 20 miles an hour and still have an accident."

McGill suggests if possible avoid driving all together. "There can be times when the roads are so bad you shouldn't be out there."

Monday's weather is expected to be mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance of snow mainly in the afternoon.

The highs will be in the upper 20s to mid 30s with a lightwinds from the west of 5 to15 mph.

Monday night will be mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow showers.

Tuesday is also expected to be partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of morning snow showers and a high in the upper 20s to lower30s.

Wednesday and Thursday should be partly cloudy with a light chance of snow returning on Friday.

"Usually the first one or two real icy storms of the year that hit, driver's really get hammered," McGill said. "But after that people think and realize they need to just slow it down and we see fewer accidents."
