Carson City Republican Women select "Woman of the Year"

Alicia Eidel has been chosen Carson City Republican Woman of the Year 2001.

She has served Republican women since 1989, first as secretary and then as vice president and membership chairwoman.

In her capacity as membership chairwoman, her primary goal was to increase membership. During her time of service, Carson City Republican Women grew to be the largest Republican women's club in Nevada.

Eidel was born in the Phillipines and educated in the United States. She attended the University of Colorado, Washington University and UCLA. During her career, she served as school counselor at UCLA, guidance counselor and psychologist in Perth, Australia, a psychologist at the Department of Psychiatry at Manila General Hospital, a teacher in New Guinea, a retired guidance counselor for Missouri and a career counselor for Illinois.

She is married to Jim, a geologist, and they have two children who are both doctors; son, Marc, is an anesthesiologist and daughter, Eve, is a pediatrician. She has lived in Carson City since 1994.
