Obituaries Hedy and Bruno Moskat

A memorial service for Hedy and Bruno Moskat will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. and Mrs. Moskat both died March 9, 2002, she at Mountain View Care Center and he at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was 82 and he was 81.

They were married Dec. 27, 1975, in Carson City.

Mrs. Moskat was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Banja Luka, Yugoslavia, to Rudolph Schubert and Aloisia Karger Schubert.

She moved to Carson City in 1970 from Yuba City, Calif. She was a gourmet cook, enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling and she loved playing keno.

She lived in Munich, Germany, from 1954 to 1958, moving to the United States in 1958. She lived in Chicago, then San Francisco and then Carson City.

Among her survivors are her daughters Vesna Vigor and Jasna Richmond, both of Carson City, Maria Balvanovich of Prejedor, Yugoslavia, and Katrina Khalil of Zagreb, Yugoslavia; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Moskat was born March 15, 1920, in Pammeln, Germany, to Karl and Martha Schulz Moskat.

He moved to Carson City from Santa Rosa, Calif. He was a past member of the German Club in Santa Rosa and enjoyed traveling and woodworking.

He owned and operated B.B.S. Custom Cabinets in Mound House, making cabinets from 1980 until he retired. He served in the German Luftwaffe during World War II, was captured by the Allied Forces on the Island of Crete and remained a prisoner of war for the remainder of the war. He was held in a P.O.W. camp in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas which led him to immigrate to the U.S. after the war in 1955.

He was preceded in death by a son Manfred in 1998.

Among his survivors are his son Guenther Moskat of Sacramento; brother Horst Moskat and sister Helene Schmeichler, both of Dusseldorf, Germany, and three grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
