QuickQuote partners with financial planning Web site

QuickQuote.com, the Reno-based

online insurance aggregator, is now working

with IHateFinancialPlanning.com to offer

quotes on short-term health insurance.

IHateFinancialPlanning.com, a personal

financial planning web site, is now

providing its customers insurance quotes

through a link to QuickQuote.com.

Both companies are subsidiaries of

international financial services firm ING

Groep N.V.

QuickQuote.com, founded in 1995 by

Dan and Debra Wager, was the first

online insurance quote service. In 1999

the Wagers sold the business to ING.

Today, the company provides consumers

with comparative quotes on insurance

for term life, individual/family health,

dental/vision and travel.

Its business model is based on an

agency model, in which, like a brickand-

mortar agent, it receives a commission

on every insurance policy sold, said

Tim Bain, president and CEO.

The company was founded in Incline

Village but moved to Reno three years

ago because of the larger labor pool, said

Bain.

The company employs 15 people,

including eight licensed agents who provide

customer service.

As a subsidiary of ING, the company

doesn't break out its financial numbers.

But Bain said QuickQuote.com has a

database of over 10,000 customers.

Suzanne Hunstad, a spokeswoman

for IHateFinancialPlanning.com, said customers

of the site will be able to order

health insurance by filling out an on-line

application and making a credit-card payment.

Most policies will be in effect within

24 hours, she said.
