Ulf Anker Magan, 49, of Silver Springs, died Oct. 21, 2002, at his home where he resided since December.
A memorial service already has been held for his family and friends.
He was born April 1, 1953, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Olaf Monrad Magnan and Elsa M. Landaas.
Known as an extremely intelligent licensed pilot, he reportedly was the first person to fly a propelled hang glider. He enjoyed rockets, computers and inventions. He also enjoyed surfing, hang gliding, hiking scuba diving and other water sports. He loved animals.
His father and brother, Phillip Magnan, preceded him in death.
Prior to moving to Silver Springs, he lived in Empire, Nev., after moving from Newport Beach, Calif.
His survivors include: wife Susie; mother; step sons Gary Schneider of San Diego, Calif., and Darin Schneider and his wife Jenny of Randolph, Mass.; granddaughter Isabella Schneider, of Randolph, Mass., brothers Jeffrey, Teddy and Rudy Magnan of Dana Point, Calif.
Capitol City Cremation and Burial Society in Carson City is handling arrangements.
