Obituary for Darrell L. Cole

Funeral services for Darrell L. Cole a 60-year resident of Carson City will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Cole died Oct. 23, 2002, in Carson City. He was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Lamoni, Iowa, to Lloyd Earl and Blanche Downey Cole. He was 86.

He married Doris M. Jones of Benton, Iowa in June 1935.

Mr. Cole moved to Carson City in 1942 from Mount Ayr, Iowa. He was a mechanic and worked for the equipment division of the Nevada State Highway Department for 28 years and retired in 1972.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran.

He was a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1006 in Carson since 1962, a member of Sierra Silver Wheels Club for more than 30 years and a member of the Frontier Travel Club.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Forest Cole.

He is survived by: wife, Doris, of Carson City; daughters and sons-in law Joyce M. and Bob Hamlin of Carson City, Beverly K. and Bill Gilbert of Washington, Ark., and Karen E. and Frank Libby of Fort McCoy, Fla.; sisters Ruth Henry of Lebanon, Mo., and Bonnie Lou Edwards of Vallejo, Calif.; a brother Keith of Mount Ayr; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Burial will be at the Lone Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darrell Cole's name to St. Mary's Hospice, 3264 Goni Road, Suite. 151, Carson City, NV 89706.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
