Howard Cadot, 66, a Minden resident for the past four years, died March 26, 2003, in Minden. He was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Alhambra, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the China Sea as an electrician and communications specialist on the USS Duncan from 1954 to 1958.
After leaving the service, he worked in the Southern California electronics industry, where he designed and oversaw the installation of projects such sound systems for the Queen Mary and the Los Angeles International Airport.
He moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1970. For the next 25 years, he was a sound-and-broadcast engineer, designing a sound system for the Cabaret Room at Harrah's South Lake Tahoe. He worked for all the local radio stations in Tahoe then for the Nevada Department of Transportation in 1996, at which time he moved to Winnemucca.
In Southern California, he volunteered for the Sierra Madre fire and police departments and was a police reservist in the Watts riots. In Zephyr Cove, he joined the Kingsbury Fire Protection Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Reserve, leaving with the rank of commander. He was also a member of the Carson City Sheriff's Reserve.
Among his survivors are his son, Bill of Placerville, Calif.; daughters Kelly Pidgeon of Phoenix and Charlene Cadot of Carson City; wives Beverly Fistolera of Visalia, Calif., and Laura Cadot of Carson City; sister, Victoria Calkins of Santa Rosa, Calif.; three grandchildren; and dog, Spanky.
