Man arrested for allegedly offering money for sex

A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a woman and offering her money for sex in a grocery store parking lot.

Cesar Canche Verde, 37, a laborer, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor battery and solicitation of prosititution.

According to police reports, a man approached the woman about 2:50 p.m. as she loaded groceries into her car in the Smith's parking lot.

He "drove up in his vehicle and offered her money to show him her breasts," the report states.

When the woman repeatedly told him "no," the man left and returned on foot, offering her $80 for sex.

"The (victim) stated that Verde then trapped her against her vehicle and grabbed her (chest) and buttocks," according to the report. "While doing so (Verde) tried to pull off (her) shirt."

The reports states the man left when the victim resisted, and she called police.

Verde was arrested four hours later during a traffic stop in the 200 block of David Street.

His bail was set at $2,210.
