Walter D. Downes, 74, a Stagecoach resident for the past 10 years, died Aug. 1, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Portland, Ore., to Walter T. and Ruth Lewis Downes.
He married Neal Kirkpatrick May 13, 1960, in Van Nuys, Calif.
Before moving to Stagecoach, he lived in Simi Valley, Calif.
Mr. Downes was a barber. He loved the outdoors.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Among his survivors are his wife, Neal, and sons Scott and Eric, all of Stagecoach.
A service will be at a later date.
Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
