Robinson's Circus employs 250 men. Last year, the concern cleared $300,000, and this year it is estimated the profits will be $400,000. A number of Carson ladies hope to found a literary society. The principal officers are already appointed.

100 YEARS AGO

Gib Briggs leaves today for the Poco Tiempo Mill to be an engineer of the sagebrush buck. He goes out to start the mill on a run of 50 tons of ore from the Larry O'Gaff mine, which is owned by Barney McCaffrey Associates. The rock is free-milling gold ore.

70 YEARS AGO

The first siren blew once, then seven times, then finally five times. Warren Engine Co. arrived double-quick on Third Street, smelling smoke. An investigation showed the smoke came down an old culvert from trash-cleaning operations near the Catholic church. The old culvert runs through that section of town.

50 YEARS AGO

Brigadier Gen. James May announced the release from the armed forces of 69 Nevadans, including David W. Smith, Army, Carson; Roy Ed Cordes, Army, Gardnerville; William D. Mercer, Army (Korean veteran), Crystal Bay; John E. Bawden, Army, Carson City; and Charles E. Park, Marines, Minden.

20 YEARS AGO

The addition of Donna Tatro as broker-salesman to the staff of Heritage Realty was made by owner Jodi Millard-Liehard. She became active in real estate on the advice of her late brother-in-law, Bob Paoli.

10 YEARS AGO

A new ruling has paved the way for the Las Vegas Clark County Library District to proceed with a museum with 50,000 square feet with 9,000 square feet of exhibition space. The ruling says that under state law, museums fall under acceptable library purposes.
