The Artists Conservatory of Northern Nevada is adding with two 15-week programs for 8- to 12 year-olds and for 12- to 15- year-olds to its Master Ensemble class.
Stacey Spain will teach the children's class and Janet Lazarus will teach the teen class. They join conservatory artistic director and master ensemble instructor Brian Frishman.
The master ensemble class consists of up to 11 students who perform in four productions, a contemporary comedy, a drama, a period piece and a musical revue. The term runs from September through June. Students attend 10 mandatory classes per month plus rehearsals and may attend seven optional classes. Tuition is $3,000. Two full scholarships are available to qualified low-income students.
n Children's Acting: For ages 8-12. A 15-week program Sept. 24 to Jan. 26; ends with a production. Five classes per month plus rehearsals. Tuition is $450. Six scholarships available. Second term begins in February.
n Teen Acting: For ages 12-18. A 15-week program from Sept. 23 to Jan. 25; ends with a production. Five classes per month. Tuition is $450. Eight scholarships available. Second term begins in February.
n Free Acting Boot Camp: For 45 students ages 8 to 18. Camp will be held at McKinley Arts and Culture Center, 925 Riverside Drive in Reno on Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students interested in the Teen and Children classes should attend the boot camp if they did not attend last year's.
n Disabled Actors Ensemble: Frishman directs "Whose Life Is It, Anyway," with a cast of disabled adults.
Master Ensemble Auditions are from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 2, for youth aged 12-19.
