Obituary: Bula Walters

A service for Bula Walters, 92, a Carson City resident for the past 34 years, will be at 1 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St.

Visitation will be this morning at Walton's.

Mrs. Walters died Aug. 24, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Green Castle, Mo., to John T. and Nettie Carter Morton.

She graduated from high school in Missouri.

She married Hallie O. Walters June 24, 1933, in Richmond, Mo. He preceded her in death Jan. 1, 1989, in Carson City.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in North Dakota.

Mrs. Walters worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the credit department from 1955 to 1962. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Daughters of the Nile in Reno, Nile Club of Carson City, Sagebrush Garden Club and a volunteer for the Carson-Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary's gift shop for 20 years. She was past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Fort Yates, N.D.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Among her survivors are her nephew and his wife James and Loisbel Page of Kansas City, Mo.; niece and husband Judith Ann and John Linscott of Kansas City, Mo.; one great-niece; and two great-nephews.

Burial will be in Green Castle Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
