Fish Commissioner Parker has about 50,000 young Eastern trout in his fish hatchery on Second Street. Strangers who are unacquainted with the "modus operandi" of hatching fish will be repaid by visiting that establishment.

100 YEARS AGO

There is a handsome specimen of silver and lead ore, weighing something more than 100 pounds, at the Valhalla Saloon. It came from the Winters Mine in this county (Douglas) and will be shipped to the Reno Chamber of Commerce. The famous Montana miner who shot into fame so soon by flooring Jim Jeffries is now going east and is under engagement to teach the Monroe Doctrine to Sharkey.

70 YEARS AGO

The high school basketball game to be played here between Virginia City and Carson High School was canceled as the highway between here and the Comstock is closed by snow and has not been opened since the storm.

50 YEARS AGO

Highlights and sidelights of the Eisenhower inauguration as seen by Nevada's National Republican Committeewoman " will be the talk by Mrs. Ken Johnson at Carson Rotary Tuesday noon. By custom, visiting Rotarians can attend, but non-Rotarian members of the Legislature are especially invited, said president Fran Gregory.

20 YEARS AGO

Investigation of slayings of two women in Carson City last month continues, says Lt. Dennis Austin; Nancy Lee Arnold, 48, was found dead, strangled in her locked apartment; and Terri Kells McClure, 55, of Reno, is dead of multiple gunshot wounds suffered in her car near downtown Carson City.

The legal affairs program, "The People's Law School," debuts on cable 35 Tuesday.
