Court date set for nurse suspected of fondling

A Carson-Tahoe Hospital male nurse accused of sexually molesting female patients in his care is scheduled to appear in Carson City Justice Court Feb. 28 for a preliminary hearing.

Police said Jason Laurie, 28, admitted Friday he fondled two sedated women in the hospital emergency room where he had worked for two years.

Three more women stepped forward Tuesday claiming similar misconduct by Laurie. The claims date back to September.

He was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony sexual assault and two misdemeanor counts of open and gross lewdness. He is being held at the Carson City Jail. His bail is $55,000.

Laurie, of Gardnerville, was fired from his job Monday and his nursing license was suspended Tuesday pending a formal hearing next month.

Investigators still are collecting information in the case.

The Nevada State Board of Nursing has set up a consumer hotline to report suspected nursing misconduct at any hospital in the state. The hotline is 688-2620.
