Obituary: Arthur Gionta

A funeral Mass for Arthur Gionta, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 42 years, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Walton's.

Mr. Gionta died Feb. 24, 2003, in Carson City. He was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Gionta was a former chief of security for the Nevada State Legislature, was a life member of the Sertoma Club, and a member of St. Teresa of Avila.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Among his survivors are his wife of 44 years Jerry of Carson City; children Arthur David "Butchie" of Plano, Texas, Kathleen Gregory of Pittsburgh and Dewey of Carson City; brothers Alfred, Romeo and Ronald, all of Pittsburgh; sisters Josephine Goclano of Ohio and Rosemary Doench of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
