The Carson Guard may justly claim the honor of having given the most successful masquerade in the state. Awards included richest costume, Mrs. Sen. Kaiser (Silver Queen) and E.A. Culver (Arabian prince); most original costume, Miss Gallaway of Virginia (Greenaway); best sustained character, Ben Barrett (Rub Rubinstein, Music Mad.)

100 YEARS AGO

Dr. Patterson, superintendent of the asylum, addressed the members of the Legislature at the Assembly chambers last evening. He explained in detail the work that had gone on.

70 YEARS AGO

State bank examiner E.J. Seaborn stated yesterday to questions that 10 employees of the Riverside bank, or members of their families, had withdrawn some $9,000 from accounts and said it might have happened after the (bank) holiday was declared. He could not be certain a leak occurred.

50 YEARS AGO

Norman Knowles of New Empire reported a break-in and raid of the family's icebox, but no other losses. The job may have been perpetrated by a group of hungry runaways from Stewart.

20 YEARS AGO

Jacqueline Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Bennett, has been chosen as February Girl of the Month by Soroptomist International of Carson City. She had been named "Outstanding Indian Student" and is in "Who's Who Among American High School Students."

10 YEARS AGO

Graveside services for Catherine Coursey, retired clerk of Muller's Drug. She was preceded in death by husband in 1981; and brothers Edward and Keith MacDonald.
