Link Piazzo will be honored with the Raymond I.
Smith Civic Leader of the Year Award Friday at the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce Centennial Chair Gala at the Eldorado.
Piazzo, a Reno native, has contributed to community organizations ranging from the YMCA to the Reno High Alumni Center.
As a businessman, Piazzo managed the Sportsman, the oldest family owned sporting goods store in Nevada.
He also was instrumental in developing Hidden Valley and numerous shopping centers around Reno.
"Piazzo is an extremely positive man, full of optimism and tenacity," said Harry York, chamber CEO.
"The title of his book, 'It Can Always Be Worse - Never Give Up,' says much about who he is."
