Phil Rose steps down from helm of agency

Phil Rose is retiring from active participation in Rose/Glenn Group, the Reno advertising agency he founded in 1979.

He will continue to hold a minority interest in the company, will act as a consultant and will have an office in the company's headquarters at 299 S.

Arlington Ave., said Valerie Glenn, who is the daughter of Rose as well as the agency's president and chief executive officer.

"It's been a wonderful ride since 1979, but it's time to make room for some of the younger and extremely bright people on our staff," the 70-year-old Rose said last week.

When he founded the agency, it had no clients.Today, it has more than 20 clients and is one of the top five agencies in the state.

The company has about 25 employees.

Rose came to Reno with his family from Wichita, Kan., in 1958.

He made his name as an on-air personality and salesman in the local broadcast industry, served as general manager of KOLO in the mid-1960s and helped launch KTVN in 1967.
