Esmeralda. The play was given last night to a packed house. It has a few strong situations padded out with pointless dialogue and much which not only borders on the maudlin, but topples over into it. It is a string of weak acts pulled through by sensational climaxes.

Yesterday Dr. Huffaker was called to attend Roland Roy, who came over from Reno a few days ago complaining of feeling ill. The doctor at once pronounced the case as one of varilold or a light case of smallpox. He was at once placed in quarantine and also the premises. He has been at home since his arrival with slight chance of spreading.

70 YEARS AGO

Speaker at the State Press Association meeting at the University of Nevada, Reno, will be "Meeting Present Business Conditions Through Cooperation," led by John B. Long of the California Newspaper Association.

50 YEARS AGO

C.A. (Dutch) Carlson Jr. of Carson City and Frank Rosachi of Reno were today named secretary of the state senate and chief clerk of the assembly respectively.

20 YEARS AGO

An East Coast business executive will be featured speaker as Citizens for Private Enterprise honor members of the Legislature at a reception banquet for 500 at the Ormsby House. He is W. David Steman, chairman and president of the Steman Corp. He is a respected leader in the textile industry.

10 YEARS AGO

Cal Clausen, senior manager at the Carson City Super 8 Motel and its parent company Motels of America, has announced new decor is in place at the motel at 2929 S. Carson St.
