Observance of Memorial Day was probably more heavily entered into by the people of Carson than ever before in the history of the city. Headline. The Oration by General Sabin. Poetry (by editor of the Appeal Sam Davis, who also ran the entire speech of Sabin), song, music and parade. Sabin, "Patriotism, love of country, is the richest jewel in a nation's diadem."

100 YEARS AGO

Born, in Lodi, Calif., Sunday, May 24, 1903, to the wife of A.V. Friedberger, a son. Mrs. Friedberger was formerly Miss Flora Tobriner of this city.

70 YEARS AGO

Closing the present school year, 36 seniors will graduate from Carson High School this evening. Among them, Thomas Charles Furlong, Francis Gilbert and William Goni.

50 YEARS AGO

Joseph Bianco has been appointed manager of the First National Bank. He takes over active duties as manager of the Carson bank when W.L. (Bill) Casinella moves to the Reno First and Virginia Branch.

20 YEARS AGO

Damage to seven Washoe Valley homes from Monday's mud slide may run from $1 million to $1.5 million with four homes destroyed and three severely damaged. One man died in the slide and another was severely injured. Carson school board canceled all school sponsored activities in the Bowers Mansion area.

10 YEARS AGO

Carson City may be the site of a new Kmart Super Store, with 170,000 square feet. Plans are to be submitted for all 545 acres of property.
