Obituary: Thelma Tripp

A funeral for Thelma Tripp, 69, a lifelong Gardnerville resident, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dresslerville Gym.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the gym.

Mrs. Tripp died June 2, 2003, at her home. She was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Gardnerville, to Mamo and Isabelle Holbrook Snooks.

She married Walt Tripp. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Tripp was a foster parent for more than 400 children during her life. She taught the Washoe language to Washoe children. She belonged to the Jackson Rancheria Handgame Team. She enjoyed archery hunting and camping.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Snooks and Virgil "Butch" Snooks, and sisters, Laverne "Bunny" McKenzie and Verneda "Detsi" Fillmore.

Among her survivors are her sisters, Diane Marks, of Jackson, Calif., and Sandie Wilkinson, of Dresslerville; brothers, John Snooks of Pine Grove, Calif., and Wes Barber of Woodfords and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Happy Hunting Ground Cemetery.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
