100 YEARS AGO

Yesterday, Officer C.P. Ferrel received from Mr. Catron, head of the Walla Walla State Penitentiary, two thoroughbred bloodhounds. One is a Siberian named Bessie, and the other, a Southern bloodhound, is said to be the finest dog they have ever had the pleasure of seeing. In case of a prison escape, the dogs will show their efficiency.

70 YEARS AGO

M.C. Kloskey, leading Ormsby County Democrat and chairman of the county central committee, was elected as a delegate to the state convention to ratify the repeal of prohibition.

50 YEARS AGO

Walter Kroeger, proprietor of Jet-Crete Construction Co., was found dead under a tractor in a closed garage with a wrench in his hand, indicating he was overcome by monoxide gas while working on the vehicle.

20 YEARS AGO

Carson TV Cable is formally requesting an increase in rates and authorization to expand its service. New channels proposed are WTBS, ESPN and MTV from $6.17 a month to $11.

10 YEARS AGO

Howard "Speedy" Garfin and the Carson Chamber Singers will join the Carson City Chamber Orchestra in its ninth annual "Pops Party" at the Governor's Mansion.
