Obituary: Winifred Page Warburton

A memorial service for Winifred Page Warburton, 79, a Reno resident, will be at 2 p.m. June 28 at the Masonic Temple, 600 Peckham Lane in Reno.

Mrs. Warburton died June 10, 2003, at Washoe Medical Center following a short illness. She was born Jan. 10, 1924, in Sydney, Australia, to Frederick and Dulcie Fairbrother Warburton.

She migrated to Reno from Australia with her husband and seven children in 1965 where her husband was to conduct research at the Desert Research Institute. She had been a secondary school teacher and continued studies at UNR. She was active in community affairs, including the Washoe Retarded Citizens Association and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the YWCA. She was a Past Matron of Adah and Naomi chapters and a past Grand Officer of the Order of the Eastern Star of Nevada. She was a very active member of the Daughters of the Nile of Reno. She and her husband traveled extensively.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Page Nelson.

Among her survivors are her husband of 55 years; children and spouses Denise and Les Linaman, Anthony and Charlotte, Alison and Jay Degn, Gail and James Jesch, Peter and Cameron, Rebecca Chertri and Catherine and Marc Morea; brother, Rupert Page; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four adopted grandchildren.

Walton's Funeral Home, Reno, is in charge of arrangements.
