Legislature. An act to change the location of the National Capital. Whereas it would be a matter of great convenience to Hock Mason to have the National Capital at Dayton, therefore it be enacted by the State of Nevada that it be removed by law from Washington, D.C. to Dayton and Thos. Wells is hereby made Master of Public Works. Referred to Humboldt delegation.

100 YEARS AGO

Hundreds of jack rabbits were killed in Plumas County, Calif., by recent storms and the snow is covered for miles by dead animals.

70 YEARS AGO

Alfred Chartz, before Leisure Hour Club, in "The Best Man I Ever Knew," cites a number of mining camp pioneers including J.V. McCurdy, John Mackay, Dr. Packard and other mining men and in the feminine class "Aunt Hannah" of early boarding house fame, Miss Annie Martin of this city and Mrs. S.E. Carlton, sister of Mr. Chartz.

50 YEARS AGO

Art Suverkrup, owner of the Record- Courier in Gardnerville and former publisher of the Nevada Appeal (he hired me) is listed as state budget director, scheduled to be put on the legislative griddle on the budget, earned editorial praise. "We had all the aces but Suverkrup trumped us."

20 YEARS AGO

Eagle Valley Children's Home Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Dee Davis as executive director. She had 10 years with the State Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation.

10 YEARS AGO

Mini Rodden and Kristin Delko inspect the new outside lights that show off the Nevada Mint portion of the State Museum, purchased with donations from local merchants.
